If you’re just starting to learn about paleolit diet, then this website will make sure you will get an answer to your questions. Here you will get short, direct answers to most of the things you would like to know.

What is paleo diet?

Paleo diet, or also known as paleolit dietary is about basically eating the same things that cavemen ate thousands of years ago. Genetically we do not differ from cavemen; therefore our body cannot digest most of the food that our contemporary meals include, such as refined carbon hydrates, milk products, etc. The paleo diet helps us make feel better, and have a perfect physical shape.

What can you eat, when you’re on paleo diet?

You can eat all sorts of meat (pork, beef, poultry meat, fish, etc), seafoods (shells, crabs, etc.) vegetables and fruits, eggs and nuts, coconut oil, coconut fat and animal fats and also olive oil.

What type of foods should be avoided?

Just like our ancestors haven’t had the following types of food, we shouldn’t eat them either: milk products (animal milk, and food that is made from it such as: butter, cottage cheese, yoghurt, sour cream, cream), grains and cereals (rice, corn, wheat, barely, rye), leguminous crops (soy, peanuts, peas, beans) and sugar (beet sugar, brown sugar, cane-sugar). Vegetable oils and margarines cannot be consumed either.

What are the benefits of paleolit diet?

According to observations, those who start the paleolit diet will be able to get rid of all indigestion problems in a short amount of time, will have cleaner skin, will be able to sleep better, will have a stronger immune system, and will be more energetic overall. Additionally all symptoms of auto-immune diseases (type 2 diabetes, coeliac disease, Crohn-disease, IBS, allergies, etc) will significantly ease or completely disappear. Additionally, as a pleasant side effect, in a matter of just a few months you can reach your ideal body weight.

Does this mean that I can’t drink alcohol either?

From time to time you would go out with friends, visit family members or for an event, and there, you’re in trouble! Your brother-in-law offers you a one-shot, or maybe you just have to drink a toast for somebody. In such cases it is allowed to drink a minimal amount of white or red wine, but only with a maximum amount of 2 dl/occasion. Feel free to occasionally drink 3dl of beer as well. From the short drinks you might drink brandy, whiskey, rum, vodka, but only those that are sugar free, in a maximum amount of 0,5 dl.

Note: Of course we should not go overboard with the alcohol consumption, let’s keep it on an occasional level and only drink one kind of drink at a time. However if you suffer from any auto-immune disease, you should rather avoid drinking alcohol.

Will I not be hungry all the time?

NO. You should know that animal proteins and vegetables are much more saturating, than the fast absorbing carbohydrates.

Just think about it, in your present diet, only one hour after your lunch you are already thinking about what more you could eat. When you start the Paleo diet, after a while, you will feel that less amount of food is enough for you and you will not feel hungry, not even when already several hours have passed after your previous meal.

But I cannot imagine my life without bread!

Unfortunately all kinds of bread made of cereals are on the blacklist, even the whole wheat breads and the ones made of gluten free flour. The best is if you get rid of all types of bread from your diet, but if you cannot do that, then a perfect alternative is a paleo bread, which you can even bake for yourself using almonds, linseed or other corns. But you should keep in mind that from paleo ingredients you will not be able to bake bread that tastes just the same as what you got used to.
